About Us | Our Story

The Personnel Group is a regional success story.

In August 1986, we placed our first client in a job at Hanrahan’s Linen Service in Albury.  It was the participant’s 19th birthday.

Like many not-for-profit organisations, ours was a humble beginning.  Our organisation started as Project Employment, a government-funded pilot scheme stemming from the Disability Services Act, with a staff of three and 20 clients.  We were regional Australia’s first new Disability Employment Service provider.

Initially a 15-month program, our goal was to help 12 people with a disability transfer from sheltered workshops to open employment.

We achieved this in only six months.

Thirty-seven years on, The Personnel Group employs more than 200 people at 50 full or part-time offices across regional NSW, Victoria and the ACT.  We may have grown and changed names during our 35 years, but our overall purpose – Creating Equality Through Employment – remains the same.

In addition to Disability Employment Service, we now offer additional employment focused programs including; ParentsNext and Pathway to Work. 

During our 37 years we have made an outstanding contribution, and positive impact on raising the bar for disability employment and helped thousands of people find meaningful work.
